Story Stone

Story Stone

Story Stone is a Native American artifact that was used to tell stories.
It is believed that it was a story that warned against selfishness,
especially as it relates to food and the taking of life.
The stone is from the Reeves Road site in Willoughby, Ohio which is now under condos.
I took the picture at a museum and cut it out,
then put it on a Fractal background created with Ultra Fractal..
The day I completed it, I went to some friends for dinner and syncronistically
found out that one of our friend's brothers found it and later donated it.

Salamander

Salamander

Salamanders are wonderful creatures that live in the forest floor.
The create burrows on the forest floor in damp soil away from direct sunlight.
Spotted Salamanders are one of the most common types.
Many varieties of Salamanders are endangered.
Salamanders migrate to vernal (spring) pools to mate and lay their eggs.
They then return to the woodlands where they live.
The eggs develop in the pool and, by the time the pool dries up,
the young emerge and seek out homes within a few hundred feet of the vernal pool.
Some Salamanders can live to be twenty years old!
I photographed this Salamander in Allegany State Park, New York.

He is a Black Lab and German Pointer mix.

Wow, something cosmic must be happening in his mind...

Black Dog

Black Dog

A beautiful spring day near the shores of Lake Eire.
There is an old story about Grandmother weaving creation.
The old black dog keeps coming along and unraveling the fabric.
Looks like the space-time continuum has a thin place along this trail...
